This is one of our favourite times of the year to go Canyoning! The weather is a little cooler now and the summer crowds have passed.
The landscapes are ablaze with an array of rich Autumn colours offering a stunning backdrop for your Canyoning Adventure as you walk through native beech forest towards the canyons. The occasional rainfall and cooler climate that we have now has accentuated those amazing smells that the forest offers; earthy, fresh and pure. Our protected forests allow fallen trees to remain, still an important part of the ecosystem. This helps create the endless carpets of moss, resembling something from Middle Earth.
The Routeburn and the Dart valleys are home to several native New Zealand birds, including Mohua, Robin, Kakariki, Rifleman, Kaka, Kea, Whio, and Rock Wren. One of our favourite birds – the Fantail – has been a regular visitor in our Queenstown canyon recently. With its melodic high-pitched song and burlesque-like dance, it is indeed a welcome guest!

Much as the Summer was late to arrive, we’re hoping that it will be late to leave us. We’re still enjoying beautiful warm afternoons even this far into March – ideal for a Canyoning Adventure with us.
